Turkey Day
Thanksgiving morning was spent doing one of our favorite family traditions. The drumstick dash 5K in downtown Roanoke. We decided last minute to go ahead and spend the money. It benefits the Rescue Mission. 'Move your feet so others can eat!' is the motto, and with over 11,000 participants(up from 7500 last year!) I think they raised a fair amount. We pushed the kids in our much loved Bob Duallie and finished it in 40 minutes. Not fast, but not bad considering we let the kids out to finish the last quarter mile and Porter was distracted by the leaves and parked cars. I didn't see this, but I guess when Bryan and Leilani were almost to the end, she said 'daddy carry me!' But when he pointed out they were almost to the finish line she said 'oh, ok!' and took off full speed to the end. She loved the idea of finishing/running the race. The afternoon/meal we spent in Fincastle with our friends Stacy and Steve. I made pumpkin pie, apple pie, and pumpkin cheesecake(which I feel was the highlight, yum yum). We also had a second thanksgiving on Friday with the missionary's and the Johnson family.
